What is new
The iPhone 18 Pro Max was announced on 9 September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. It keeps the large aluminium unibody of the 17 Pro Max, with a Ceramic Shield glass pane under the camera plateau, a smaller Dynamic Island and a USB-C port.
The 6.9-inch OLED screen is unchanged in size, and iFixit lists a 5,391 mAh battery.
Back glass is a lighter job than you might expect
Because the body is a single piece of aluminium, you might expect a back glass repair to be a major job. It is not: iFixit's guide releases the glass from the rear with heat and a pick, with no frame swap and no laser machine, and rates it Moderate at around one to two hours. The wireless charging connector sits under a small cover, so reconnect it before you seat the new glass.
You will need replacement back glass adhesive. Keep your pick shallow, as spring contacts and a delicate cable run under the edge.
